Varsity Blues: OOTD!

Hello friends,

Not one to ever know the weather, I have always relied in looking out my window and going from there. Which, by the way, is a terrible idea, living in Florida, where the weather can change in the blink of an eye. So, you would think I’ve learned my lesson… Umm no…

As I opened my window the other morning, all of the sudden I feel a cool blast of air on me. ย At first I asked myself “Where did you come from?”, then, a devilish grin came over my face. ย I love cool weather, any chance to get away from the non-stop heat and humidity that rules this place, I’m in! Best of all, it was completely unexpected… Naturally, I raced to my closet and started mentally deciding what jacket will I rock for the day. And Boom! I knew it was the perfect day to use my new varsity jacket. I decided to purchase this beauty because of two things: a) It’s a hot item to have right now, as it was everywhere at NYFW 2014. b) Because I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could pull this off.

My mentality with these jackets have always been: “Only small town mid-western cheerleaders wear these.” But the more I began to look at the style of the jacket, I realized I could put my own spin on it and wear it my way. I wanted to keep the masculinity in this jacket, but not let it overpower me. That’s why I decided not to pair it with sneakers or jeans. I decided to pair my jacket with a printed T and a fun skirt with strappy heels. I love the way this look came out! It felt edgy, yet girly at the same time.

Overall I’m glad I gave this trend a try, not only because it’s good to break out of your comfort zone, and try something new, but also, because the jacket is a really beautiful piece by itself. So I have officially dubbed the B in my jacket for Bad-ass!

Will you be rocking this trend?

Let me know in the comments below,

Love, chicki
