As you all know by now, I got the great opportunity to cover The Eye on Fashion event this weekend. To kick off this great event I was invited to attend the press meet yesterday, which gave members of the media the chance to know more about the project, get to know the stylists, and overall mix and mingle with these great people.
The Press Meet was held at Fresh Threads Consignment Shop in Tampa FL, due to the crazy rain and bad traffic here in FL I unfortunately arrived a little late. It was not the impression I wanted to make. when I arrived I was soon greeted by warm hellos and a lot of friendly faces, so I was very relieved that they were so understanding. I then quickly made my way around the room greeting everyone, and introducing myself and chickicouture.
As I made my way around I noticed there was Wine, cheese, and crackers which was a nice addition.
After I helped myself to a small plate, I really wanted to check out the shop. I can truly say this boutique is amazing. Being a lover of consignment shops myself, I find myself spending hours in them if I’m not careful. I was truly impressed at the amount of clothing and different selection there was. What really caught my eye was the abundance of accessories there was. I loved how the selections ranged from dainty to more statement pieces.
And can we talk about the shoes!! I fell in love with all of them I wanted to take them home 🙂 I love how the shop carries a great selection of designers shoes for all you fashionistas out there.
And to all my Dapper men out there you can breathe a sigh a relief, This shop also carries a great selection of menswear that left me truly impressed. The selections of colors and patterns are truly made to let you stand out in any event.
So after exploring the shop I finally got to meet the 3 of the stylists. The first stylist I met was Melizza Williams from Tampa FL. I got to know how she started as a stylist, and the path that got her to where she is today. It was inspiring to hear her story and her enthusiasm towards the competition. We hit it off so well because her personality just shines and she was really sweet, and even complimented chickicouture so that was a big moment for me!
The second Stylist I met was Faheemah Safa from New York. I chatted with her about her aesthetic and her personal style. She also filled me in on her journey and path on how she got to where she is today. I got to pick her brain a bit and she truly is so genuine and such a beautiful soul. Her passion and determination showed through her eyes. She also gave me tons of great tips and compliments. Sadly I didn’t get a one on one pic with her 😦 but she is the one with the blue jumpsuit and awesome hat in the back I’m speaking with.
And the third stylist I got to meet was Tristan Richards from Tampa Florida, who ended up coming a little later in the evening, he chatted with me on how he became a stylist, and also informed me he is model. How cool is that!? While speaking with him I couldn’t help but feel his excitement, he truly is a humble guy and so down to earth.
Sadly I did not get to meet the last stylist competing which is Ify by Bobi from Virginia , her flight landed a little later than expected, but hopefully I can catch her and chat with her about her beginnings and her journey.

Here I stand with 3 of the stylist I’m truly so happy for all four of them, I wish them all the best of luck and I know all of them will continue doing big things in this life. They are truly all creative minds with big dreams.
All in all it was a great night filled with laughs. You could feel the positive energy in the room. I can’t wait to see what they bring tonight!!
I would like to say thank you to Fresh Threads Consignment Shop. If you are ever in the Tampa area, be sure to check them out!
